It's important to recognise that sugar is naturally found in foods that contain carbohydrates. Consuming whole foods containing carbohydrates is ok because they have natural sugars which digest at a slower rate. This is because whole foods may also contain fibre, protein, calcium and essential minerals, which help slow down the process of the energy released to the body.
